Hello, my name is Denise, and I overuse exclamation points, smiley faces, and the word “awesome”.

I am generally a fairly positive person, but have always suffered from low self-esteem, social anxiety, and general laziness. During the last few years, I have noticed a further spiral into depression and a general lack of desire to “be all that I can be”. I now know it is time for a change.

That is what The Butterfly Diaries is all about – change and transformation.

The butterfly is a symbol for transformation, used in early Christianity as a symbol of the soul. In fact, “psyche” is a Greek word used for both soul and butterfly. Other cultures also use butterflies as a symbol of change, resurrection and celebration.

The cocoon is a symbol of potential leading to miraculous change. That is where I am right now – in my cocoon, preparing to emerge as a beautiful butterfly, bringing not only peace and happiness to myself, but spreading joy wherever I choose to fly.

I hope you will join me on this journey where I will tackle a wide range of self-improvement tasks – including physical, emotional, and spiritual. Blessings to all of you – Denise

“May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.”
